Numericals on Electric Current and Current Density
Que-1. A current of 20 µA flows in a wire for 30 seconds. Find the amount of charge and the number of free electrons transferred through the wire.
Ans-1 Given – Current (I) = 20 μA = 20 × 10-6 A and time (t) = 30 sec
The charge transferred through the wire is
⇒ Q = It
⇒ Q = 20 × 10^-6 × 30 = 6 × 10^-4 C
So, number of electron,
n = Q/qe
= 0.6/1.6 x 10^-19
= 3.75 x 10^15.
