Macduff Persuade Malcolm to Return to Defeat Macbeth
At opening of the scene, Macduff meets Malcolm in England and tries to persuade him to return to Scotland and ruin Macbeth. At beginning Malcolm is doubtful of Macduff, thinking It may be a Trick plan by Macbeth to capture me.
Malcolm Wants to Test Macduff’s Loyalty
To test Macduff’s loyalty, Malcolm pretends to be a worse dictator than Macbeth, claiming he would be full of ambition, greed, and other defect if he became king. Macduff is shocked at this response but he still urges Malcolm to come back, saying that Scotland has enough wealth to satisfy his desires.
Malcolm Shows Lacks All the Kingly Virtues
Macduff says that Malcolm’s goodness will weight at any faults. However, Malcolm continues to show his badness, saying he lacks all the kingly quality and would destroy law and order
Malcolm Said It was Testing
After that Macduff finally despairs for Scotland, crying that the rightful heir of Scotland is cursed by his own evil. He is ready to leave his hopes . At this moment, Malcolm finish the drama scene of pretending and disclose that it was nothing but testing Macduff. He says Macduff’s loyalty has erases all his doubts. Malcolm said that the English king has already supported thousands of troops led by Siward to help him to kill Macbeth power.
English king Magically Cures Sick People
During conversation, a doctor appears and describes how the English king magically cures sick people only by touch. Malcolm also confirms as witnessed and further told that the king also has the gift of prophecy.
Ross Arrives and Tells Murder of Macduff Family
As soon as conversation finish, Ross arrives at this moment from Scotland telling news of the terrible suffering . Macduff enquires about his own family and became suspicious at Ross’s hesitant replies. When Ross finally tells that Macbeth has brutally murdered Lady wife and son, Macduff is faint by grief and guilt for leaving them in such circumstances.
Malcolm and Macduff Resolve to Defeat Macbeth
Malcolm convince Macduff to convert his grief to anger to revenge against Macbeth. Macduff resolves to ruin the Macbeth, even if it costs him his own death. Malcolm says this is a manly response and declares that Macbeth is full of sin. He suggests Macduff to join him in returning to Scotland with their English troops to defeat and killed Macbeth to maintain law and order in Scotland.
