Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS)

Question 1. If 8 laborer’s can earn ₹9000 in 15 days, how many laborer’s can earn ₹6300 in 7 days?

Answer:

No.of labourers =8

No.of days=15

Rs earned =9000

Rs earned for 8 labourers in one day=9000/15

=600

Rs earned for 1 labourer in one day =600/8=75

No of days =7

Total Rs earned for labourers =6300

Rs earned for same number of labourers on one day=6300/7=900

Number of labourers =900/75 = 12

Question 2. Three typists working 8 hours a day type a document in 10 days. If only 2 typists are working, how many hours a day should they work to finish the job in 12 days?

Answer:

3 typist in 8 hours a day can type a document in 10 days

2 typists in 12 days will finish the work by working * hours a day .

more days, less hours therefore x = 8 * 3 * 10 = 240

So, 2x*12 = 240

24x = 240

x = 10

Therefore they will work for 10 hrs. a day.
