Question :- Read the following extract from the poem Abou Ben Adhem by Leigh Hunt and answer the questions that follow:
And to the presence in the room he said,
“What writest thou?”—The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord,
Answered, “The names of those who love the Lord.”
Question 1 :- Explain with reference to context

The stanza has been taken from the poem Abou Ben Adhem written by Leigh Hunt.
Context:
In this poem the poet describes the spiritual experience of Abou who was a faithful and pious man. Abou awoke one night from a sleep of deep dream. He saw an angel writing something in a book of gold, which was referred as the holy book.
The angel replied that he was writing the names of those who loved God, Abou was curious to know whether his name was written there or not, but Abou’s name was not there listening to this, Abou requested the angel to write his name in the list of those who loved their friends and fellowmen.
The another night the angel came -again and showed Abou the names of those whom God loves and had blessed. Abou was surprised to see that his name was written on top.
Explanation:
In these lines the poet tells us how Abou spoke to the angel. There was too much peace and Abou was not afraid of the angel. He became bold and was curious to know what the angel was writing.
The angel raises its head to reply to Abou when he enquires about what it is writing in the book of gold. The vision has a sweetness and composure when it faces Abou. He replied that he was writing the names of those who love the lord i.e. God.
Question 2 :-What did Abou Adhem asked the angel?
Answer:- He asked the angel, “What writest thou?” which means what are you writing?
Question 3 :-What did the angel tell Abou bin Adhem?
Answer:- The angel replies that he is writing in the book, the names of those who loves the Lord.
Question 4 :-Why was Abou not afraid?
Answer:- He was not afraid because he champions the great value of peace and has great faith in God. The peace felt by him due to the presence of the vision made him brave enough to ask the question.
