Question-1
Find the volume and total surface area and the lateral surface area of a rectangular solid having :
(i) Length =8.5 m, breadth = 6.4 m and height = 50 cm.
(ii) Length =5.6 dm, breadth = 2.5 dm and height = 1 m.
Answer-1
(i) Length =8.5 m, breadth = 6.4 m and height = 50 cm = 0.5 m
(a) Volume = l x b x h
= 8.5 m, x 6.4 m x 0.5 m
= 27.2 m³
Now perimeter of cross section of the tunnel
= 8 + 2.6 + 2.6 + 6
= 19.2 m
length = 40 m
internal surface area of of the tunnel excluding floor
=19.2 x 40 -40 x 8
= 768 – 320
=448 m²
Rate of painting = 5 Rs / m2
So Total cost of painting
= 5 x 448
= Rs 2240 ans
