Simple Equation in one variable
The linear equations in one variable is an equation which is expressed in the form of ax+b = 0, where a and b are two integers, and x is a variable and has only one solution

Que-1: Solve : (i) x-4 = 8 (ii) x+7 = 2 (iii) x-6 = -3 (iv) y+2 = -6 (v) x+3 = -1 (vi) z-5 = -8
Sol: (i) x – 4 = 8
x = 8+4 = 12
(ii) x + 7 = 2
x = 2-7 = -5
(iii) x – 6 = -3
x = -3+6 = 3
(iv) y + 2 = -6
y = -2-6 = -8
(v) x + 3 = -1
x = -1-3 = -4
(vi) z – 5 = -8
z = -8+5 = -3
Que-2: Solve : (i) x/3 = 6 (ii) y/2 = -4 (iii) 2x/4 = 3
Sol: (i) x/3 = 6
x = 6×3 = 18
(ii) y/2 = -4
y = -4×2 = -8
(iii) 2x/4 = 3
x = 3×(4/2) = 6.
Que-3: Solve : (i) 2x = 10 (ii) 3y = -12 (iii) 2x-3 = 7 (iv) 3x-5 = 4 (v) 4x-1 = 7 (vi) 5z-3 = 2
Sol: (i) 2x = 10
x = 10/2 = 5
(ii) 3y = -12
y = -12/3 = -4
(iii) 2x – 3 = 7
2x = 7+3
x = 10/2 = 5
(iv) 3x – 4 = 5
3x = 5+4
x = 9/3 = 3
(v) 4x – 1 = 7
4x = 7+1
x = 8/4 = 2
(vi) 5z – 3 = 2
5z = 2+3
z = 5/5 = 1
Que-4: Solve : (i) 2x-3 = -5 (ii) 4y+5 = -3 (iii) 6z-8 = 1
Sol: 2x – 3 = -5
2x = -5+3
x = -2/2 = -1
(ii) 4y + 5 = -3
4y = -3-5
y = -8/4 = -2
(iii) 6z – 8 = 1
6z = 1+8
z = 9/6 = 3/2.
