Rules of Transpositions

Transposition method is one of the linear equation rules used to solve the linear equations By transposing a term from one side to the other side, we mean changing its sign and carrying it to the other side. In transposition the plus sign of the term changes into minus sign on the other side and vice-versa

Exercise- 13B

( Simple Equations Class 6 RS Aggarwal Exe-13B Goyal Brothers ICSE Maths Solutions Ch-13 )

Solve :

Que-1: 5x + 4 = 19

Sol: 5x + 4 = 19
5x = 19-4
x = 15/5 = 3

Que-2: 3x – 8 = 10

Sol: 3x – 8 = 10
3x = 10+8
x = 18/3 = 6.

Que-3: 5 – 2y = 9

Sol: 5 – 2y = 9
5-9 = 2y
y = -4/2 = -2

Que-4: -6 + 3x = -5

Sol: -6 + 3x = -5
3x = -5+6
x = 1/3

Que-5: 2x + 12 = 3 – x

Sol: 2x + 12 = 3 – x
2x+x = 3-12
3x = -9
x = -9/3 = -3

Que-6: 2 – 5y = 2y – 5

Sol: 2 – 5y = 2y – 5
2+5 = 2y+5y
7 = 7y
y = 7/7 = 1

Que-7: x/5 + 5 = 2

Sol: x/5 + 5 = 2
x/5 = 2-5
x = -3×5
x = -15

Que-8: 4x/3 + 3 = x – 2

Sol: 4x/3 + 3 = x – 2
(4x/3)-x = -2-3
(4x-3x)/3 = -5
x = -5×3
x = -15

Que-9: (3x+2)/5 = 4

Sol: (3x+2)/5 = 4
3x+2 = 4×5
3x+2 = 20
3x = 20-2
x = 18/3 = 6

Que-10: x/2 – 6 = x/3 – 5

Sol: x/2 – 6 = x/3 – 5
(x/2)-(x/3) = -5+6
(3x-2x)/6 = 1
x = 6

Que-11: 2y/3 – 8 = 2 – y

Sol: 2y/3 – 8 = 2 – y
(2y/3)+y = 2+8
(2y+3y)/3 = 10
5y = 3×10
y = 30/5
y = 6.

Que-12: x/2 + 2 = 5 – x

Sol: x/2 + 2 = 5 – x
(x/2)+x = 5-2
(x+2x)/2 = 3
3x = 3×2
x = 6/3
x = 2.

Que-13: 6(2x-1)-5(x-3) = 2(x+2)

Sol: 6(2x-1)-5(x-3) = 2(x+2)
12x-6-5x+15 = 2x+4
7x+9 = 2x+4
7x-2x = 4-9
5x = -5
x = -5/5
x = -1

Que-14: 7(3x-1)-6(2x+3) = 8(x-2)+1

Sol:  7(3x-1)-6(2x+3) = 8(x-2)+1
21x-7-12x-18 = 8x-16+1
9x-25 = 8x-15
9x-8x = -15+25
x = 10.
