Ans: After reading the story carefully and seriosly The theme appear that this is horror story and exploitation of an innocence lad. The old selfish lady Mrs Drew exploits youth of lad for her own benefit. The story also indicate that careless and irresponsible parent neglect the true caring responsibility which gives chance of explotation by selfish and clever . The central theme highlights the selfishness and greedness for one’s own profit at the cost of other life.

The friction arises from his regular visits to her house where she cleverly begins to drain out his youth and charm. The horror and suspense builds up around the strange modification of Mrs Drew undergoes and the climax where Bubber loses his human texture change into as a horrifying twist. There are relationship between the boy and The Cookie Lady in most part of the story.

Ans: The ending is quite sudden, suspense and horrifying as Bubber loses his human texture and modified into a bundle of trash being blown around by the wind. This ending shows the range of Mrs Drew’s cunning and exploitative tendency.
An alternative ending could have shown Bubber realising her evil intention and stopping his visits to her house on his parents’ advice. But that would have made it less horrifying and suspenses. The present climax shocked the reader by its sudden unexpectedness of change.
