Which School Board is Better for IIT JEE and NEET Preparation?

Many students as well as parent are confused as to which school board is better for IIT JEE and NEET point of view. There are many different opinions and people keep on arguing as to which one is better, but to be honest it doesn’t matter.

Better Board for IIT JEE and NEET Preparation

CISCE has realigned Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology syllabus of class 11 and 12 with that of the CBSE. The difference in  CBSE and CISCE syllabus is diminishing.

What makes CBSE better than CISCE?

There are CBSE affiliated schools in every big or small city in India. Up to class 10, CBSE syllabus is considered to be very easy as one book of science while in CISCE there is separate books for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Class 11 and 12 syllabus is well focused on the preparation of competitive examinations.

Some of the past students of CISCE board feels that, till class 10, CISCE is better than CBSE. But for class 11 and 12, students would like to prefer CBSE over ICSE

What makes CISCE better than CBSE?

CISCE student, who chose to be anonymous, thinks that CBSE students take more time to grasp a topic and call them “less efficient and bookworms”

Difference between CBSE and CISCE syllabus

All CBSE schools follow standard NCERT books. Until class 10, CBSE students don’t have a need to refer extra books in addition to NCERT. In class 11 and 12, there are many reference books that are available for better understanding of topics and solving problems

On the other hand, ICISCE syllabus covers a range of topics to explore overall growth of students

CBSE or CISCE for IIT JEE Preparation?

“CISCE board has a vast syllabus for students in class 11 & 12. It doesn’t make sense for an engineering aspirant to study English literature books, poem books and short stories books.”

“CISCE board puts huge pressure on boards over students, making them devoting less time for their main subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. If you want to prepare for IIT JEE and other engineering entrance examinations, CISCE is not a recommended board in class 11 and 12″

 For NEET Preparation?

It’s a common trend that CBSE students are clearing NEET more than their ISC(CISCE) . NCERT books of Biology, Chemistry and Physics for class XI and XII are highly recommended for preparation of medical entrance examinations.

But before class 11, CISCE syllabus allows different books for Physics, Chemistry and Biology which provides a very good learning platform for students.

Best Board for JEE/ NEET/ IIT Preparation

There is no simple and direct answer to this question. It depends on what parents want their children to learn? What skills and depth of knowledge a child should absorb? What’s the objective and goal of a parent for educating his/ her child?

Considering selection in IIT JEE and NEET as the criteria for deciding which board is better, may not be the right way to go.
