Solution: (1/2) of 2(2/3)

= 2(2/3) × (1/2) = (8/3) × (1/2)

= (8 × 1)/(3 × 2) = (4 × 1)/(3 × 1)

= 4/3 = 1(1/3)

(iii) (4/5) of 1 hour

Solution: 1 h0ur = 60 mins.

∴  (4/5) x 1 hour= (4/5) x 60 minutes

= (4/5) x 60 minutes = 48 minutes.

Hence, (4/5) of an hour is 48 minutes.

(iv) (3/5) of ₹1

Solution: (3/5) of ₹1

₹1 rupee = 100

= ₹(100 × (3/5) )

= (3 × 20)

= 60 paise

(v) (8/15) 0f 1(1/2) meters

Solution: (8/15) 0f 1(1/2) meters

= (8/15) × (3/2)

= 4/5

∴ 1 meter = 100

= (4/5) × 100

= 80 cm

(vi) (5/7) of 2(1/3) kg

Solution: (5/7) of 2(1/3) kg

= (5/7) × (7/3) = (5 × 7)/(7 × 3)

= (5 × 1)/(1 × 3)

= 5/3 = 1(2/3)

12. A car can travel 12(1/2) km in 1 liter of petrol. How much distance can it travel in 42(3/5) liters of petrol?

Solution: 1 liter petrol = 12(1/2) km = 25/2 km

42(3/5) liters petrol = ?

42(3/5) = 213/5

14. If a cloth costs ₹715(1/4) per meter, find the cost of 3(2/5) meters of this cloth.

Solution: 1 meter cloth = ₹715(1/4) = ₹2861/4

3(2/5) = 17/5 meter cloth = ₹2861/4 × 17/5

= ₹48637/20

= ₹2431(17/20)

15. Advertising in a magazine costs ₹1472(2/3) per square inch. Find the cost of an advertisement of 17(6/7) square inch.
