According to circular released dated 15th of May 2023, There is clear guideline for Improvement exam (If passed but want to increase marks) and compartment exam (If failed in two subject other than English) of both (ICSE/ISC). In the circular date of registration/ last date, fee per paper , exam month has been also mention very clearly.

Difference Between Improvement and Compartment Exam

There is clear difference between improvement and compartment. The improvement is for those student who has declare pass in exam but want to increase marks without session loss. While the compartment exam is for those student who has failed (PCNA) in either two subject other than English and want to pass in same session.
Can a student give both compartment and improvement?

In the circular this is clear mention that candidate is only eligible for only one according to condition discuss above. therefore one can not appear in both of improvement and compartment exam.

Can Someone Give more Than One Subject Improvement / Compartment ?

How many subject can some one choose for improvement and compartment exam. The answer of this question is only one. You can not choose more than one subject. But you can choose more than one paper for certain subject such as Science and social.
For example if you have chosen science in ICSE then there is three paper. you can choose all three , two or only one paper of science.

How Can Register for Improvement / Compartment Exam?

Schools will be able to register the candidates for ICSE as well as ISC, online, for the Improvement Examination, from 19th June, 2023 to 23rd June, 2023. The examination charges for the Improvement / compartment Examination are Rs. 500/- per subject/paper as applicable per candidate.

Dates of the Examination:

The Improvement Examinations of ICSE/ISC will be conducted in the month of July 2023. The final date will be declare soon.

Syllabus

The syllabus for improvement and compartment exam will be same as 2022-23 session. Do not follow the revised syllabus of current session 2023-24. if you confuse buy the old syllabus books from book shop mention “2023 syllabus”. What Happen if Get Less Marks

If a student gets less marks in a particular subject in improvement exam, then he can go with the higher marks as he has scored originally in the exams. The higher marks in two exam (main or improvement) will be consider as final marks.

Hence don’t worry if marks becomes lesser in improvement than original main (old) exam. Your previous main exam marks will be remain same.
