Operation on Decimals
The operation on decimals—addition, subtraction is a common calculation not only in maths but also in our daily calculation. To add or subtract decimals, just line up the decimal points and then add or subtract in the same manner you would add or subtract whole numbers.

Solution- 60 – 32.987 = 27.013
Que-7: By how much should 72.5 be decreased to get 18.76?
Solution- 72.5 – 18.76 = 53.74
Que-8: The sum of two number is 34.02. If one of the number is 16.268, find the other.
Solution- sum of two number is 34.02
one number is = 16.268
other number be x
So, 16.268 + x = 34.02
x = 34.02 – 16.268
x = 17.752
Que-9: Sajjal bought a geometry box for Rs139.75 and an exercise box for Rs59.60 from a book shop. He gave a Rs500 note to the shopkeeper. What amount did he get back?
Solution- Total amount given to shopkeeper = Rs500
Cost of geometry box = Rs139.75
Cost of exercise box = Rs59.60
Amount to be paid = 139.75 + 59.60 = Rs199.35
Amount left = Rs500 – Rs199.35 = Rs300.65
