Que-1: Rajan purchased a geometry box for Rs136.75, a colour box for Rs48.80 and a register for Rs64.50. What amount did he pay to the shopkeeper?

Solution- Price of geometry box = ₹136.75
Price of colour box = ₹48.80
Price of register = ₹64.50
Total amount rajan paid to the shopkeeper = Price of geometry box + price of colour box + price of register
₹136.75 + ₹48.80 + ₹64.50
= ₹250.05 Ans.

Que-2: Sakshi bought 3m 28cm cloth for her shirt and 2m 7cm for her trousers. What is the total length of the cloth bought by her?

Solution- For her shirt = 3m 28cm
For her trouser = 2m 7cm
Total length = shirt length + trouser length
Total length = 3m 28cm + 2m 7cm
Total length = 5m 35cm Ans.

Que-3: A bag contains 95kg 80g of rice and the mass of the empty bag is 860g. What is the weight of the bag filled with rice?

Solution- Weight of rice = 95 kg 80 g
Weight of empty bag = 860 g
Weight of filled bag = Weight of rice + Weight of empty bag
= 95kg 80g + 860g
= 95kg 940g Ans.

Que-4: Distance between Delhi and Meerut is 85km 850m and the distance between Meerut and Muzaffarnagar is 56km 85m. What is the distance between Delhi and Muzaffarnagar?

Solution- Distance between Delhi and Meerut = 85 km 850 m
Distance between Meerut and Muzaffarnagar = 56 km 85 m
Distance between Delhi and Muzaffarnagar = Distance between Delhi and Meerut + Distance between Meerut and Muzaffarnagar
= 85km 850m + 56km 85m
= 141km 935m Ans.

Que-5: Divya purchased a book worth Rs256.85 and a set of note-books worth Rs546.70. She gave a Rs2000 note to the shopkeeper. How much money did she get back?

Solution- Total cost of items = Cost of book + Cost of notebooks
= Rs256.85 + Rs546.70
= Rs803.55
Money back = Amount given to shopkeeper – Total cost of items
= Rs2000 – Rs803.55
= Rs1196.45 Ans.

Que-6: The weight of a gas cylinder filled with gas is 32kg 200g. If the weight of the gas contained in it is 17kg 80g, find the weight of the empty cylinder.

Solution- Total weight of the gas cylinder filled with gas = 32 kg 200 g
Weight of the gas contained in the cylinder = 17 kg 80 g
Weight of empty cylinder = Total weight of cylinder filled with gas – Weight of gas contained in cylinder
= 32kg 200g – 17kg 80g
= 15kg 120g Ans.

Que-7: Stuti went to the market with Rs3000 in cash. Out of this money, she purchased one frock, one toy and one bag costing Rs675.85, Rs318 and Rs1972.75 respectively. How much money is left with her?

Solution- Amount Stuti had initially = Rs3000
Cost of frock = Rs675.85
Cost of toy = Rs318
Cost of bag = Rs1972.75
Total cost of items = Cost of frock + Cost of toy + Cost of bag
= Rs675.85 + Rs318 + Rs1972.75
= Rs2966.60
Money left = Amount initially had – Total cost of items
= Rs3000 – Rs2966.60
= Rs33.40 Ans.

Que-8: The total weight of a bag containing 25kg 750g of potatoes and 18kg 80g of melon is 44kg 200g. How much is the weight of the empty bag?

Solution- Weight of potatoes = 25 kg 750 g
Weight of melon = 18 kg 80 g
Total weight of bag with contents = 44 kg 200 g
Total weight of contents = Weight of potatoes + Weight of melon
= 25kg 750g + 18kg 80g
= 43kg 830g
Weight of empty bag = Total weight of bag with contents – Total weight of contents
= 44kg 200g – 43kg 830g
= 370 g Ans.

Que-9: If the school bag of Divya and Rahul weigh 8kg 60g and 6kg 275g respectively, whose bag is heavier and by how muh?

Solution- Weight of Divya’s bag = 8 kg 60 g
Weight of Rahul’s bag = 6 kg 275 g
Divya’s bag is heavier by:
8kg 60g – 6kg 275g = 1kg 785g
Therefore, Divya’s bag is heavier than Rahul’s by 1kg 785g.

Que-10: The distance between Naman’s office and his house is 19km. He covers 14km 65m by scooter, 3km 75m by bus and the rest on foot. How much distance does he cover by walking?

Solution- Total distance between Naman’s office and house = 19 km
Distance covered by scooter = 14 km 65 m
Distance covered by bus = 3 km 75 m
Total distance covered = Distance covered by scooter + Distance covered by bus
= 14km 65m + 3km 75m
= 17km 140m
Distance covered on foot = Total distance between office and house – Total distance covered
= 19km – 17km 140m
= 1km 860m Ans.

Que-11: There was an electric wire of length 100m. Out of it three pieces of length 26m 85cm, 3m 18cm, 18m 70cm were cut off. What is the length of the remaining wire?

Solution- Length of first piece = 26m 85cm
Length of second piece = 3m 18cm
Length of third piece = 18m 70cm
Total length of pieces cut off = Length of first piece + Length of second piece + Length of third piece
= 26m 85cm + 3m 18cm + 18m 70cm
= 48m 73cm
Length of remaining wire = Total length of wire – Total length of pieces cut off
= 100m – 48m 73cm
= 51m 27cm Ans.

Que-12: A bag contain 98kg 300g of wheat. There was a consumption of 36kg 450g, 28kg 360g and 32kg 880g during three months. How much wheat remains in the bag?

Solution- Initial amount of wheat in the bag = 98 kg 300 g
Amount of wheat consumed in the first month = 36 kg 450 g
Amount of wheat consumed in the second month = 28 kg 360 g
Amount of wheat consumed in the third month = 32 kg 880 g
Total amount of wheat consumed = Amount consumed in first month + Amount consumed in second month + Amount consumed in third month
= 36kg 450g + 28kg 360g + 32kg 880g
= 97kg 690g
Amount of wheat remaining = Initial amount of wheat in the bag – Total amount of wheat consumed
= 98kg 300g – 97kg 690g
= 610 g Ans.

Que-13: Out of 260 litres of milk, a milkman sold 36l 500ml, 75l 750ml, 68l 400ml and 42l 850ml. How much milk is left with him?

Solution- Initial quantity of milk = 260 litres
Quantity of milk sold:
36 litres 500 millilitres
75 litres 750 millilitres
68 litres 400 millilitres
42 litres 850 millilitres
Total quantity of milk sold = Quantity sold in first transaction + Quantity sold in second transaction + Quantity sold in third transaction + Quantity sold in fourth transaction
= 36l 500ml + 75l 750ml + 68l 400ml + 42l 850ml
= 223l 500ml
Quantity of milk left = Initial quantity of milk – Total quantity of milk sold
= 260l  – 223l 500ml
= 36l 500ml Ans.
