Summary of Act-2, Scene-4
Scene-3 of Act-2 in Julius Caesar take place in the home of Brutus.
Portia is Again Upset in Her Home
Portia is upset at her home on the Ides of March. She is awash with anxiety. She struggles to express the task she has for her servant Lucius. Finally, she tells him to go to the Senate and check on Brutus, to see if he appears well. As she sends him on this message, she becomes alarmed, believing she hears a distant noise producing from the Capitol. while Lucius, hears no such sound.
A Soothsayer Comes in Portia Home
Whenever Portia ordering Lucious to the capitol, a soothsayer interrupts their conversation. Desperate for any information, Portia asked him if he has been to the Capitol, and whether Caesar is there. The soothsayer answered that he has his own private favor to meet from Caesar, increasing Portia’s fears. As she finds out that the soothsayer is unaware of the secret plan against Caesar, she is overtaken by a mixture of relief and concern, her emotions so turbulent and much serious that she is about to fall on floor.
Portia Send Lucious to Capitol Immediately
She knows Lucius’ watchful eye, she hastily composes herself. expressing an false explanation for her emotional state, she tells Lucius that Brutus has sent a written petition to Caesar that might not be accepted. She asks him to pass along her best wishes to Brutus and to come back to her as soon as he can with report of wellness also.
