Simple Microscope Numerical Class-12 Nootan ISC Physics Solution Ch-18 Optical Instruments.
Que-1. What are the two possible values of the magnifying power of a simple microscope made of a convex lens of focal length, f = 2.5 cm?
Ans- Two possible values are
1 + D/fe and D/fe
=> 1 + 25/2.5 and 25/2.5
=> 11 ,10
Que-2. A magnifying glass has a magnifying power of 50 when the image is formed at the least distance of distinct vision (25 cm). What is its focal length?
Ans- m= 1 +D/f
=> 50 = 1 + 25/f
=> f = 25/49 = 0.51 cm
Que-3. A man whose least distance of distinct vision is 24 cm, uses a convex lens of focal length 1.2 cm as a magnifying glass. What magnifying power does he obtain?
Ans- m= 1 +D/fe = 1 + 24/1.2
= 1 + 20 = 21
Que-4. A person having normal near point (25 cm) reads a book through a magnifying glass of focal length 5 cm. What are the nearest and farthest distances at which he can put the book before him? What are the maximum and the minimum angular magnifications (magnifying powers) possible with this simple microscope?
Ans- magnifying power at D
= 1 +D/fe = 1 + 25/5 = 6 cm
∴ nearest distance to see = 25/6 = 4.2 cm
and magnifying power at ∞
∴ farthest distance = 25/5 = 5 cm
