Que-1: What were the things about the house that the speaker find attractive ?

Ans:  the reasonable price and the location which was indifferent to him.

Ans: When the landlady’s direct inquired about how dark his skin then he shocked . He identifies himself as African on a question that exposes her racial bias.

Ans: She can refuse the agreement as soon as she knew that he was an African Hence the man think that he will have a wasted journey?

Que-4: What does the lady want to know about the speaker’s colour?

Ans: She is very particular about knowing the exact shade of his complexion. Therefore woman asked whether the speaker’s skin colour is dark black or light black/mild black. .

Que-5: How does the speaker explain the colour of the skin to the woman?

Ans:  ‘West African sepia’ is the cleverly and smartly answer The speaker explains his skin colour to the woman by referring to it as which is the colour mentioned in his passport. Even she still does not understand, he again replied by comparing it to ‘brunette’ or brown colour.

Ans: At ending of the poem ,It is full of joke and silly conversation. The black, comments about his own skin colour and his request to the woman to come and see him are an funny and powerful criticism of the woman’s idea about racist and dis criminatory behaviour.

The lady (owner of house) puts the phone receiver down without giving any clearification about renting out the accommodation, suggesting her prejudiced ideas against the man race/ colour.
