Solve the following Inequalities :
Que-1: 3x − 2 < 7.
Sol: 3x − 2 < 7
3x < 9
x < 3
Que-2: 5x + 17 > 7 when (i) x ∈ Z (ii) x ∈ R
Sol: 5x + 17 > 7
5x > -10
x > -2
(i) If x ∈ Z ⇒ x = -1, 0, 1, 2, …
(ii) If x ∈ R ⇒ x > -2
Que-3: −8 ≤ 5x − 3 < 7 when x ∈ Z
Sol: −8 ≤ 5x − 3 < 7
Add 3:
−5 ≤ 5x < 10
Divide by 5:
−1 ≤ x < 2
Since x ∈ Z ⇒ x = -1, 0, 1
Que-4: 40 x < 300 when x is a natural number.
Sol: 40x < 300
x < 300/40
x < 7.5
Since x is a natural number, possible values are:
x = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Que-5: 4x + 3 < 5x + 7.
Sol: 4x + 3 < 5x + 7
3 − 7 < 5x − 4x
−4 < x
Que-6: 3(1 − x) < 2(x + 4).
Sol: 3 − 3x < 2x + 8
3 − 8 < 2x + 3x

Que-7: {3(x-2)}/5 ≤ {5(2-x)}/3
Sol: Multiply by 15:
