Que-26: The cost of 1 litre of milk is Rs 42*(3/5). Find the cost of 12*(1/2) litres of milk.
Solution- The cost of 1 litre of milk is 42*(3/5) = Rs 213/5
the cost of 12*(1/2) = 25/2 litre of milk is
= 213/5 ÷ 25/2

Que-28: The cost of 3*(1/2) metres of cloth is Rs 547*(3/4). Find the cost of 1 metre of cloth.
Solution-cost of 3 1/2 m = 547 3/4
7/2m = 2191/4
so, cost 1 m of cloth is
1m = 2191/ 4 ÷ 7/2
= 2191/4 x 2/7
= 2191×2/4×7
= 313/2 = Rs 156*(1/2) Ans.
Que-29: Tanvy cuts 54 m of cloth into pieces, each of length 3*(3/8)m. How many pieces does she get ?
Solution- The total length of cloth = 54m
the length of each peace=3*(3/8) = 27/8
So, she get peace = 54 ÷ 27/8
= 16 Ans.
Que-30: A cord of length 126*(1/2)m has been cut into 46 pieces of equal length. What is the length of each piece ?
Solution-Length of Cord = 126 1/2 m
No. of Pieces = 46
Length of each piece = 126*(1/2) divided by 46
= 253/46
= 11/4 = 2*(3/4) m Ans.
Que-31: A car travels 283(1/2)km in 4(2/3) hours. How far does it go in 1 hour ?
Solution- Given: Distance travelled = 283(1/2) km Time taken = 4(2/3) hours
First, let’s convert the mixed fractions into improper fractions: 283(1/2) = (283 * 2 + 1) / 2 = 567 / 2 and 4(2/3) = (4 * 3 + 2) / 3 = 14 / 3
Now, we can calculate the speed (distance travelled per hour):
Speed = Distance / Time
= (567 / 2) km / (14 / 3) hours
= (567 / 2) * (3 / 14) km/h
= (567 * 3) / (2 * 14) km/h
= 1701 / 28 km/h
Now, to find out how far the car goes in 1 hour, we’ll divide the total distance by the total time:
Distance in 1 hour = Speed * 1 hour
= (1701 / 28) km/h * 1 hour
= 1701 / 28 km = 243/4 km Ans.
Que-32: The area of a rectangular plot of land is 46(2/5) sq.m. If its length is 7(1/4)m, find its breadth.
Solution- area of rectangular plot = length x breadth
46*2/5 = 7*1/4 x breadth
232/5 = 29/4 x breadth
breadth = area / length
breadth = (232/5) / (29/4)
breadth = 928 / 145 = 32/5 = 6*(2/5) m Ans.
Que-33: The product of two fractions is 15(3/4). If one of them is 4(1/2), find the other.
Solution-The product of two fractions is 15 3/4 . If one of them is 4 1/2 then,
4*(1/2) × x = 15*(3/4)
9/2 × x = 63/4
9x/2 = 63/4
36x = 126
x = 21/6
x = 7/2
x = 3*(1/2) Ans.
